Nearly 3 million nonfatal workplace injuries and illnesses were reported by private industry employers, resulting in an incidence rate of 3.4 cases per 100 equivalent full-time workers, according to the Survey of Occupational Injuries and Illnesses (SOII) conducted by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics (2012). Majority of the causes is because of a potentially unsafe working environment or the noticed and unnoticed hazards within the workplace.
The benefits of maintaining a safe work environment are many, but first and foremost, safety is about what you can do to protect your workers.
